2021 Website refresh and improvement.

This year we worked in a small team to create the new website for Kolibrí Festival, one of the biggest autonomous multicultural and multilingual festivals in Finland, led by immigrant women.
The team was formed by Maritere Vargas (Service Designer), Ina Fiebig (Graphic Designer), and Eduardo Tejedor (UX and Visual Designer).

The main areas of this project were:
Interface design
UX research
User flow analysis
Accessibility
User-friendly UI
Information architecture
Multilingualism
We started by analyzing the structure of the old website, prioritizing important information and practical issues.
We took User tasks and flows into account and tried to organize and connect the pages in the simplest way and easy to build.

Accessibility and ergonomic aspects were key subjects for this project. Kolibrí festival and Ninho association are organizations that work for immigrant and mixed cultures in Finland. One of the goals for them is to integrate and include everyone in the scene and try to reach as many people as possible breaking the cultural and communication gaps that cause racism and discrimination.
DESIGN STYLE GUIDE
COLORS & LOGOTYPE
COMPONENTS
HEADER & FOOTER
LAYOUT & GRID
We designed the sections, components, and layouts using a grid to be accessible and responsive.
Our colors were tested to be readable making good contrast, font sizes, and padding allow the users to have a pleasant reading transmiting a kind vibe, and feel familiar with the Festival's identity.

WEBSITE INTERFACE
MOBILE VERSION
We opted for simple and clean solutions to increase accessibility and make it easy to use.
The website is responsive because most of our audience enters through mobile phones. The site is translated into 5 languages that are official for this multilingual festival, it was one of our goals to make all the information and design compatible for every language.

The architecture of the website allows us to add future festival editions and organize the information to keep a record of the past editions. Also, this structure allows Kolibri Festival's team to feed the website with updates and news effortlessly.
We analyzed the website using WebAim and Siteimprove to make sure that the interface is accessible for everyone.
The most important of this design project was to make the website the most User-friendly possible considering all kinds of age groups and people with disabilities because children and parents are our main users.

In the near future, we aim to continue growing the festival and impact more people, using culture and languages as a tool.
